Rochelle Linick | Lies, Naps, & Road Signs

In the spring of 2023, Rochelle (familiarly called Shelley) published Lies, Naps, and Road Signs: Memories and Thoughts of an Octogenarian, a memoir that explores some of life's most ubiquitous conundrums, such as the quandary of growing old and the universality of death. 

"When I set out to publish a collection of my writings," explains Shelley, "I never expected the result to be great fame or wealth. To be honest, I wasn't thinking about the end result at all. My goal, or purpose, was to preserve my memories and thoughts for myself while I could still remember them. And to give my family and friends insight into my life, my feelings, and my perception of aging."

Shelley goes on to write, "Having done all of that, I am thrilled to say that I am successful. The people I wanted to reach have been unanimously supportive and complimentary." 

Sometimes, success isn't global notoriety or fortune. Shelley counts herself very successful because she achieved a personal goal, one that continues to bring her satisfaction and pleasure.
