Proofreading: This is the most common editorial service and focuses on grammar, typos, spelling, and punctuation.
Copyediting: Provides you with overall insight into your work. Your editor will offer suggestions and advice on content, structure, and style. Basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation proofreading is included.
Developmental Editing: Sometimes clients have a great idea or book concept with a few pages of rough ideas but need professional assistance with fleshing their ideas out. This is where Emerging Ink Solutions comes in. Need help further warping a character's personality? Do you have the knowledge for your non-fiction historical account but need guidance in locating and utilizing citations? Need help deepening the plot of your YA novel? Is your self-help book lacking structure? Developmental editing services can help .
Substantive Editing: Is English your second language? Perhaps you've spoken it most your life but just aren't great at narration, word choice, or paragraph structure. Format adjustments on manuscripts made by Emerging Ink Solutions are based on the commonly-accepted rules of formatting for books. Because publishers have certain formatting requirements for manuscripts dependent upon preference, the adjustments might not be applicable. The editor will be in constant contact with the client.
*Non-fiction authors: Depending on the length of the manuscript, how many sources you utilize, and the state of your citations/bibliography upon submission, Advanced Formatting Additions might require further inspection and subsequent quote adjustments.
